THE STORY
Years after mine operations ceased, President of Midland Coal Mining Co., Sydney McMullen, generously donated all 1,500 acres of Midland Mine land to the province. In honour of this gracious deed, park planners ensured his legacy would remain by welcoming visitors to explore the mine’s history through the endless trails in Midland Provincial Park, as well as picnicking, fishing, hiking, and biking at McMullen Island.
